Two of these bolts are easily visible on the top of the light, and two are a bit harder to see farther down behind the headlight. Note that the two lower bolts have a larger thread diameter and should not accidentally be installed in the upper locations.
Remove all four bolts and unplug all electrical connections on the back of the light high, low, angel eye, turn signal, and xenon auto-level motor if applicable. Gently remove the headlight from the vehicle by pulling the end closest to the center of the car towards you.
This allows the under-headlight trim piece to come detached from the fender just below the turn signal. Once this hook is free, the light can be removed from the vehicle. Preparing the light for opening Remove the car-colored plastic strip under the headlights.
It clips in on one side, where a flat head screwdriver is required to release the clip. The rest of the strip will simply pull off.
Remove all bulbs and rubber boots from the light. All bulbs will twist free, and the boots will pull right off. Remove the plastic ring where the high beam bulb mounts. Thoroughly clean the light fixture before baking the light. Use needle nose pliers to grab a bit of adhesive out of the crack between the lens and body. If it feels more like dried RTV sealant, your light cannot be opened. Preheat oven to around degrees. Place the light in the oven for minutes.
Wearing heat-resistant gloves, remove the light from the oven and run to your work area. Start at the end of the light towards the center of the car away from the turn signal. With your left hand, gently raise the clip of the lens up. At the same time, insert a flat-head screwdriver in the crack between the lens and headlight body and twist it.
This will begin to separate the two halves of the headlight. Working your way around the perimeter, separate the halves of the light. While it is possible to retrofit both automatic wipers and headlights at the same time, that would require additional wiring since your vehicle did not come with the Rain Sensor connector, correct wiper stalk, and wiring to the GMIII central body electronics module.
The newer turn signal stalk is available here. Additional wiring may be required, as well. The above prices are quoted from ECS Tuning. Other vendors may vary in pricing. Used parts will always be a cheaper alternative.
Figures updated August, Procedure: Please watch the full video that is at the bottom of this post. It contains much more detail than this textual overview. This DIY requires 3 different jobs to be completed. I will outline each one, A — C. Behind the rear view mirror, we will find the RS. They use the same plug, so no wiring modifications are required. The RS clips onto a glass prism that is installed with adhesive on the inside of the windshield glass.
The RLS uses a different prism that must replace the existing prism. The prism kit comes with a new prism now plastic and a pad adhesive pad already applied to it. Buying additional pads will afford you more opportunities to install the prism correctly without air bubbles between the adhesive and glass.
B Replace the headlight switch, and headlight switch bezel. This is where you need to connect the Red wire. Now you need to create the connectors for the Angel Eye Black socket with blue wires. You will need total of 4 metal pins included plus the transparent tube shape rubber cover for those pins x2 for each side. Also 4 wires, 2 black and 2 red will be the best x2 for each side.
It will look something like this shown. Never mind the wire color shown here Blue , the color of the wires may vary, but the important thing is that you connect them correctly.
From the 2 pins inside the Angel Eye's Black sockets, it leads to one Black and one Blue wire coming out from the other end. You will then connect the other wire to the other pins, and that wire will be called Negative Wire coming from Angel Eye's Black Plastic socket.
The left 2 photos show you how to assemble the metal pins. Supercharger Kits. Tail Lights. Top Speed Limit Removal. Turbo Kits. Information About Us. Privacy Notice.
