Rotel ra-820bx4 manual

When You look inside the first thing You see is a nice toroidal transformer, insights don't look to crowded but the amp has some weight for it's size. About the sound: the most obvious thing I can say about it is that bx3 has a "Rotel sound". Everything is in place, the sound is I would say neutral, mostly depending on the source. Don't get me wrong: the lows are there, the mids are in place, highs definitely not too harsh, but not to warm.

It lacks bass and treble control so it's either You like the sound or it's not for You. It has more than enough power for me. Natherdenless I would probably don't recommend this amp as a first one. It seems like it's preferably for someone who knows what he or she is looking for and what sound he or she would prefer. If it's a "Rotel sound" then this amp is what You looking for, especially when You can obtain it for a good price.

As I started to investigate, a slight movement of the box caused the sound to disappear completely on one channel.

At first I thought this was down to a loose speaker cable, but they all seemed tight enough and then with another slight movement of the box the sound came back again, still rather crackly though. I then found that by working the monitor and function selector controls a couple of times sound was restored on both channels and the quality was particularly stereo separation seemed much more acceptable than it had been earlier.

It would seem evident that the switches need to be cleaned with Servisol or similar. Re: Rotel RABX4 and phono input upgrade Post by lini » 13 Apr McSp: Yup, that cetainly wouldn't harm - unless you'd use a too aggressive contact cleaner type and would forget to flush that out again And a request for clarification: The comparative impressions in the first paragraph of your fist post above, would these refer to the Marantz in combination with the CA phono stage or to the Marantz with its integrated phono stage?

Because the phono stage of the Marantz also wouldn't seem bad, but plagued with somewhat high input capcity, if it's a version N - not sure whether that would would apply to your exemplar or not, though. Anyway, in good working condition the Rotel should be a nice sounding amp, too - albeit a bit weaker and maybe a tad more sterile sounding than the Marantz.

And yup, tuning the phono stage with better opamps would certainly be an option, but I'm noo expert in circuit-specific opamp rolling - however, the exact circuit should certainly be considered, 'cause a better opamp type won't help, if the surrounding circuitry isn't well-suited for its use Greetings from Munich! So you'd just need find out the location of these two coils with the help of the service manual and then see, whether these are actually installed in your unit.
