Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: Same problem here. The error comes after prompted for the server password.
I have tried multiple times with the same result. Alternating between reboots, disabled virus software MSE etc. Nothing noted in the event log. Are there logs I can check for some clues about what might be wrong?
Anand, I finally got a change to try your suggestion. Alas, it was not the issue. However, I did find the issue! Reading the help associated with this error message, I found the path to where the installer puts the trace files:.
I looked for errors in the logs and found this gem:. BaseException: Microsoft. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. Thread starter beelzibub Start date Jul 24, Joined Jul 11, Messages I'm really hoping someone can help me with this damn WHS software I've been trying everything I can possibly find online and still I cannot install the Connector software on my main computer.
I can access the server's shared folders just fine, but when I go to install the Connector software it error's and says: The installation is cancelled The Windows Home Server Connector has encountered an unexpected error.
Click Close to undo most of the changes that are made to this computer. I've searched high and low on the web and no solution seems to work. Can anyone give me any suggestions? I really wanted to give WHS a try because it's supposed to be the easiest to use versus Ubuntu or similar, but I'm ready to punch a baby because of the nightmare I've had so far!!!
Joined Sep 28, Messages If you look on the MS forum there are a number of fixes, some that work. They are too long to post here. Pringals Gawd. Joined Nov 27, Messages Well, I don't use the newer version of WHS, but perhaps some of the same methods and troubleshooting work? Try these. I couldn't get the connector cd to work on my setup either but using this method has been flawless for me Good luck.
So far, no luck I'm now going back through them to see if I missed anything. This is so damn frustrating!!! I've been building computers for years, but this is my first server build and setup.
I assumed that choosing the MS software would make it simple and pain free! Thanks for the help guys Go to posts. Recommended Comments. Guest Posted February 13, I had installed the "out of the box" Sharepoint foundation solution with the default web-page. And Bingo, this one dissables the Homeserver standard web-pages on port 80 [also remote access by the way] as it's using port 80 as well. Move to the "sites"menu Then on the right, stop the port 80 SP web-site, restart the default webpage at the top using port 80as well.
Ok, have to sort out the sharepoint thing moving to another port
 More sharing options Guest Posted April 27, I had to disable Widows Media Features before the connector would install. Took hours to sort it out. Guest Posted September 2, Matze, Your a life saver, I had been looking for the resolution all day for this exact issue.
I had Sharepoint installed for TFS and didn't know that this was the same port. Many thanks to you sir!!!! Guest Posted January 7, The server is built in Oracle Virtualbox. The virtualbox network adapter is set up as bridged, and the server is receiving a dhcp address from the router All my PCs are connected to the network group that i created using the server.
All PCs are able to see and access server shares. All PCs met server connection requirements. Here is a link for reference to troubleshoot this issue. Please mark the reply as an answer if you find it is helpful. MeipoXu, thank you for taking the time to reply. However, the issue is not with WHS , it's that something got broken with my Windows 10 Insider builds. Something in one of the builds broke this functionality and now generates the error when you try and reinstall it. The link you provided I had previously found that and none of the conditions in my PC's apply to the potential causes sited in the post.
The W10 Anniversary update is coming out next week so unless someone or yourself has another idea, I'll wait until next week. When the W10 Anniversary version comes out, the first step will to be trying an upgrade, but I'm not very optimistic on that.
I'll see, maybe I'm wrong. The last step which I honestly don't want to do is to wipe the disk clean and reinstall the W10 Anniversary version and every application and copy back every photo, spreadsheet, document, etc.
I'll have to do this on multiple PC's which I am not looking forward to. We could try the following tool. MeipoXu, thank you for your help and response.
